The 1922 South American Tour of the Vienna Philharmonic |
Felix Weingartner conducted all concerts except the Rhinegold performance, done by Moissl |
Karl Stiegler, the famous principal of the horn section, made his last will & testament before leaving Vienna for this long tour, which was not bad, as the principal clarinet, Mr.Behrends, died during the return journey from the 1923 Sounthamerican tour & was buried in the ocean.. If you look at the programs, you might understand the state of exhaustion. The other horn players of this tour were: Christian Nowak sen. (principal), Christian Nowak jun. & Hans Koller (3rd), Franz Moissl & Karl Romagnoli (2nd), Anton Stark & Hermann Moissl (4rth) and Rudolf Reiss |
